lighting. Traditions in nature photography.

Using aperture to control depth of field.
Session 2
Sunday 14 September
After the
camera: processing, presentation, winning an audience.
Work flow: from camera to archive to hanging.
Proofing/indexing, digital printing, sizing, paper surfaces,
permanence, Framing, Albums, workbooks.
Photography and computers: PCs & image manipulation. Software
review, scanning,
Picture review:
Session 1 exercise, Nature photography shoot.
Location shoot:
Night photography
Practice and techniques, timing, blur,
manual exposure. As well as exploring the potential of night
photography, this session explores the camera control in practice.
Bring tripod, shutter release
Project for next week: Use the Internet
or books to identify the greatest landscape photographers. Find out how
they work.

& white settings (or film) to explore three of composition
theories from this session.
Workshop
& picture review: night
photography and look at the great landscape photographers.

Sunday 28 September
History of
the medium through photographers' eyes. Technologies,
movements, impact of art traditions, Black &
white or colour? Some of the big names in photography
Workshop
& picture review: Landscape photography
and black & white project from last week.
Location
shoot: Street & People photography. Working
with people to achieve an effective portrait. The
questions of eye contact, smiling and backgrounds.
